Perhaps the most important advice I can give, on this topic, is to stay away from the small, local, BOI offices, where they can't issue reciepts. They will probably charge you extra money, for their travels to a larger office, and maybe even keep your passport until they return, so the passport can be stamped. It is much better if you go to the larger/regional office yourself.
